  • Floater's Swing SG Guide

Recently, I have been asked a ton about swing sg's builds and or stats, how to run it correctly, What skills to use, etc. So, I have decided to type up a guide on this unique style of playing SG. Let’s get started.

    Pros and Cons

    Pros
    1. Swing is the most flexible and dynamic among all styles of play.
    2. It is an all around scoring method from the 3pt to the paint.
    3. It has the strength to turn around a game in an instant
    4. Preforms the most dynamic plays among all styles.

    Cons
    1. Highest turnover risk
    2. Hardest to learn and master
    3. Need a smart mindset and bold actions on every possession
    4. Highly mind game dependent

    Running swing
There are two ways to go about playing swing sg

    1) Drive-in Swing.
Drive-in swing is when the SG is going to be using drive-in and out dribbles and paint maneuvers to shake the defense to get a wide-open shot. Its focus is to mind game the other team. Drive-in Swing is the most dynamic way to go about playing swing. However, it still isn’t as stable as a Fly-oop/Flalley SG would be.

    2) Fly-oop/Flalley
Fly-oop style is mainly focused on Floater and Alley-oop. You will shoot Floaters from your maximum layup range while being aware of court vision to throw alleys, jump pass, etc. Fly-oop has the best chance of success and playing it safe, Most stability and teamwork.

    Team placement

C/PF Should be in the paint. Your big should post push the opposing big so you will be able to shoot a Floater, Layup, or jump pass. Also, if the opposite big is coming out to block your Floater, use Alley-oop pass. I will include an illustration of big placement. Correct and incorrect (Credit to Hanachan)

This is the INCORRECT placement the C/PF should be

This is the CORRECT Placement the C/PF should be

PG Should maintain 90 degrees with the scorer. The PG should always look at the cheating defense and move around the corner or wing. Therefore, the SG will jump pass to the C and the C will nonstop to PG for a wide-open shot. Pgs should also be reading to recover any loose balls. (P.S. Use baseball) Here is an illustration of what I mean. (Credit to Hanachan)

SG needs to play from the 45-degree angle of the court. The SG will use Floater from the max range. The SG will use jump pass to mind game the other big. SG will use dribbling to get a wide-open shot. The SG will also use alley to throw to its big if they are coming out to block your Floater. I will leave an Illustration of the angle you should be swinging off of (Credit to Feather)

This Illustration is good for knowing the court. You will mainly play from the "2 and 4"

Simple strategy’s you can do are Moving screens, Pick and rolls, Pillar from the wing, your big can sometimes leave the paint often to set you a pick allowing you to maneuver around him. Thus, allowing you to backroll or drive in.

        Attributes, Building, Stats, etc.

When starting a swing sg, your focus is to boost your layup as much as possible. You will need to try to hit the max layup in game. I recommend finding any Legend, rare, or even magics to try to reach that goal.

Long layup attribute + range scales out like this

        210 +12
        212 +11
        214 +10
        216 +9……

        While it decreasing will be

        210 +12
        208 +13
        206 +14
        204 +15……….

Best decks for swing would be an SP5 with layup range. SP4 with maxed out layup will also work as well. These are my current stats and cards for SG

Here is what Max layup looks like on a SG

          Replays and examples

          https://www.twitch.tv/hoshizora9508/v/109015660
Great example of me (Drive-in) vs Hana (Fly-oop) Can be found in this very first clip. Observe my big as he sets moving screens, Pick and rolls, etc. Simple swing plays. Also, look at hana’s flyoop style, the post pushing and bigs position etc.

Here are some YouTube examples coming straight out of Korea tournaments

          Drive-in

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrJiLq5teH0

These first two clips are traditional swing SG. The skill set I posted for drive in is the exact same for the SG scorer in this video except they are using kill pass instead of fade away.

                    Let us begin.

There is also a 3rd swing style that not many players can do. This style is called "FTF!"

                    Skill set
                    1) SP Middle III
                    2) SP Drive III
                    3) Fancy Drive I
                    4) V cut III
                    5) Manual Layup III
                    6) Quick Change III
                    7) Floater III
                    8) Double clutch III
                    9) Alley Oop Pass I
                    10) Jump pass III
                    11) Drive fake I
                    12) Backroll turn III
                    13) Quick Jumper III

                    VIP Slot = Euro Step.

The build is still the same as Fly-oop or Traditional. Nothing changes. You will need your layup range. Drive speed is optional but helps out a ton with this style of play. You can find examples of this @ https://www.twitch.tv/lemniscatefs
